Colour is everything
A modern blended family had been looking for an opportunity to live close to each other, but with the housing market in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, being over stretched for some time, it proved no mean feat. When this new-built apartment block located in Amsterdam-Noord came on the market, it presented the solution the two couples and their shared children were searching for.
The small scale apartment complex, from the award- winning architect Tom Frantzen, was perfect in many ways: the apartments were equal sized, albeit mirror-imaged, situated next to each other and were on the market as shell units. As a result, the layout was designed to fit the owners’ needs seamlessly.
Although there are many similarities between the two flats, this flat can be characterised by a vivid colour palette.
Against a backdrop of soft pink walls and brutalist concrete ceilings, a bold scheme was created, showcasing artworks and pieces of furniture in exciting patterns, creating a unique and personal scheme.
